Fina-Arena Swimming World Cup Berlin 20-21 october 2012
The Arena Elite Team were simply on fire last weekend, during the 5th leg of the Fina/Arena World Cup in Berlin. Paul Biedermann did Germany proud, as he collected gold in the men’s 400m (3:42.21) and silver in the 200m freestyle (1:42.71) events. Fellow German Marco Koch hit home in a time of 2:06.84, to collect bronze in the 200m breaststroke, whilst Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh earned two silver medals, in the 400m (4:01.42) and 200m (1:53.59) ind med events. Holland’s Inge Dekker secured bronze in the 100m fly (57.65) and 50m free (24.56), and then achieved a well deserved silver in the 50m fly, clocking in at 25.98, just a fraction behind Italy’s Ilaria Bianchi, who came in at 25.96. Denmark's golden girl, Lotte Friis took bronze in the 800m free (8:22.04), whilst Russia’s Stanislav Donets won an impressive two gold medals in the men’s 100m (50.02) and 50m (23.16) backstroke events. Russia was unstoppable with Evgeny Korotyshkin collecting silver (50.14) in the men’s 100m fly.
On November 2nd & 3rd, the World Cup visits China's vibrant capital, Beijing.
